Nasseam M. James is a community advocate and Florida based thought leader in the maternal and child health and family services space.

Nasseam is a perinatal therapist, a full spectrum doula, and a conscious parenting instructor trained in Child and Parent Psychotherapy. She has advanced training in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders as well as has helped parents navigate the difficult paths of infertility, adoption, pregnancy loss, and birth trauma. She is an advocate for children in the child welfare system and believes that the work she does with parents early benefits families greatly. Nasseam is also a believer in the connection of mind and body to support whole body recovery from stress and trauma and because she has this passion for mental wellness she dedicated her professional career to the service of mother, babies, and young families especially from marginalized communities with limited access to providers with her specialization.

Nasseam has a solid education background in both business and social services. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of South Florida and Master of Social Work with a concentration in Social Policy and Administration from the Florida State University. During the same period she also completed a graduate Leadership in Executive Administration and Development from the Florida State. She later completed a Master of Business Administration at the University of Central Florida in the Executive MBA program while concurrently completing the Public Health Leadership Institute cohort at the University of South Florida, College of Public Health. Nasseam has expertly managed fiscal operations exceeding $38 million, establishing her as a knowledgeable and business-savvy leader in the field.

Nasseam founded the not profit, Center for Perinatal Mental Health and Family Wellness, Inc at the start of 2024 because she saw a disconnect in mental health services and supportive care for families in Florida. Through the Center for Perinatal Mental Health and Family Wellness Nasseam hopes to improve family wellbeing by addressing mental health concerns impacting positive outcomes for vulnerable expectant and new parents as well as their families, and support systems. Her mission, through this not for profit organization, is to provide comprehensive support, resources, and direct services so families learn to navigate the perinatal period with confidence.
